I wanted to try and pull this bailout into perspective, so I’ve divided all the numbers by 1 trillion (1,000,000,000,000);
Marshal Plan = 11.5 cents
Louisiana Purchase = 21.7 cents
Moonshot = 23.7 cents
S&L Crisis 25.6 cents
Korean War = 45.4 cents
The New Deal = 50 cents
Iraq War = 59.7 cents
Vietnam = 69.8 cents
NASA = 85.1 cents
All in all that’s $3.92
The bailouts have cost America $4.61
And for what, not for flying to space, not for killing people, not for infrastructure. But to help out the rich, who’ve screwed themselves over. I assume they’re so important that we might all die without them. At least $4.61 important.
